A note from Lorrin ArringtonSavage

My work in fiber art is a spiritual and historical dialogue—a sacred conversation between the past, present, and future. Each stitch I make is intentional, rooted in the legacy of African-American quilters whose artistry spoke in coded messages, resistance, and quiet power. For over two decades, quilting has been my form of storytelling, ministry, and meditation. Whether honoring Proverbs 31 women, echoing the strength of our foremothers, or guiding new creators, I see fiber as more than fabric—it is testimony. My pieces often incorporate collage, scripture, and layered materials that speak to resilience, worship, and transformation. I believe that through the needle, we mend not only cloth, but also community and spirit. In every panel I create or curate, I aim to elevate unseen stories and stir the soul toward hope, courage, and remembrance.
